Born in Tokushima, Japan, Yoshiki Tanaka has been a successful cartoonist and professional artist for over forty years. He has drawn manga and comic books for such publishers as Shogakukan, Shueisha, and Shogakukan, and has also worked as a freelance artist. His work appeared in such publications as Newtype USA, the Weekly Shonen Jump, the Weekly Shonen Magazine, and Toshokan. He is the illustrator of the One Piece manga series for which he won the best foreign comic book award in France in 1999
